Ayako Fujisaki was born and raised in Japan. She graduated from Sofia University in Tokyo with a bachelor's degree in German literature and a master's degree in psychology.
During her training, she was mainly supervised by prominent Jungian psychologists in Japan, including Dr. Hayao Kawai. After graduating from university, she worked as a psychologist at Juntendo Medical University in Tokyo.
While working at a medical university, she had the opportunity to visit the United States and participate in a seminar conducted by psychology doctors Arnold and Amy Mindell. Ayako was immediately charmed by the approach. So she decided to move to America, Portland, Oregon, to learn this innovative method .
Having taught psychology both in Japan and the United States, and having lived in different countries around the world, Ayako combines different areas in a unique, East-Western approach.
Ayako has over 25 years of counseling experience and specializes in dealing with depression, trauma, mind-body communication, basic life scenarios, dreams, relationship difficulties, and procrastination.She is a specialist with extensive experience and a deep understanding of issues related to cross-cultural and interracial communication, immigration and acculturation, racial and ethnic minorities, and cultural and systemic oppression.
Teaching is one of Ayako's favorite hobbies. She has been teaching at the Institute for Process Work (PWI) in Portland since 2004. It also conducts seminars and training courses in Japan, Russia, Germany, Bangladesh and Thailand.
One of its current interests is to provide psychological training to those involved in international humanitarian work.
