Ralph Metzner is an American psychologist, author, and professor Emeritus of psychology at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco. Metzner has spent more than 50 years researching consciousness, yoga, meditation, and shamanism.

Ralf Metzner was born in Germany, graduated from Oxford and received his M. D. from Harvard. Later, he worked as a medical school teacher, specializing in psychopharmacology. He participated in psychedelic research at Harvard University in the early 1960s with Timothy Leary and Richard Allpert (later known as Ram Dass).
He is the co-founder and president of the Green Earth Foundation, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to healing and harmonizing the relationship between people and the Earth.
Metzner was featured in the 2006 film Entheogen: Awakening the Divine Within, a documentary about how to rediscover the enchanted cosmos in the modern world.
