In 1986, Kaish began working with psychologist Dr. Ronald Wong Joo, then president of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology. Together, they organized the Harmonia Mundi conference, which brought together psychologists and religious leaders. As part of this initiative, Dr. Kaish led the Congress of Contemplative Traditions, which brought together meditation teachers from Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The key speaker of the conference was the Dalai Lama in the year when he received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Fearing that the Church was not teaching its followers how to connect with the Divine, Kaish founded OneHeart in 1986, an ecumenical organization that teaches Christian contemplative practices. OneHeart grew to twelve groups that met weekly in Southern California. In the 1990s, OneHeart held three international conferences dedicated to Christian meditation practices, the final of which was held with the participation of Bishop Kallist Ware.

In 2024, after completing his clinical practice, Dr. Kaish moved with his wife, Susan, to a small agricultural town on the Central Coast of California. He devoted this stage of his life to writing books and helping people find a deep connection with the Divine. In his spare time, he plays jazz and blues guitar, does gardening, and spends time with a dog named Maggie, whom he affectionately calls " Wonder Dog."
